Dr. Karissa Miller is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at CSULB. Her research focuses on the psychosocial determinants of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk, with a particular emphasis on the pathways (endocrine, autonomic) through which health disparities in CVD may arise. Dr. Miller and the PRO-Health Research Program have collaborated on the Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies Project / Proyecto Mamás Saludables, Bebés Saludables, which examined laboratory-based cortisol reactivity profiles among ethnic minority, pregnant women, and a Health Course Redesign Project, which implemented health technologies as an innovative teaching approach to promote student engagement in health psychology courses.
